Ferguson Planning assisted the landowner in securing a developer to take forward a proposal that would represent one of the largest solar farm developments in Scotland. Ferguson Planning has assisted in coordination of the project team and is currently leading the overall planning process. The site extends to some 90 acres and would involve the installation of some 76,000 photovoltaic solar arrays, together with associated infrastructure capable of producing a renewable energy output of c. 20 megawatts. This equates to powering in the region of c.7,000 homes per annum. The site is located opposite the Galashiels Community Recycling Centre on the towns north eastern outskirts with the application soon to be under consideration by Scottish Borders Council.
